Orientation to the Program
Individuals applying to take courses as a non-program students must be prepared to participate in a self-guided program orientation. The GCAP 100: Student Orientation is offered entirely online and is designed to prepare students for graduate studies at a distance. Although program students complete the orientation as a cohort each fall, non-program students may complete the orientation on their own.
The orientation course is designed to familiarize students with the tools, resources, and procedures they will draw on in each GCAP course, as well as the roles and expectations of both students and program staff. We recognize that distance learning and online communication are new to many GCAP students. However, by the end of this course students should feel more confident in this virtual academic environment and be ready to begin their first GCAP program course.
Students are required to complete the orientation prior to taking GCAP courses. By applying to take a course as a non-program student, you are agreeing to complete the program orientation. Failure to complete the orientation may result in withdrawal from the course.
You will also have access to the CAAP 200: Introduction to Mastering Professional Writing and Navigating APA Format course. This course contains seven lessons that guide students through the process of planning, drafting, revising, and editing a graduate paper. Particular focus is placed on implementation of the American Psychological Association publishing standards. You are expected to adhere to these writing and editorial standards in all GCAP courses.
