Funding
We are fortunate to have received federal, provincial, and university financial support for the CAAP consortium of graduate programs. The financial backing speaks to the innovative nature of both the consortia and distance delivery models of the programs. We wish to acknowledge contributions from the following sources:
- Human Resources Development Canada, Office of Learning Technologies - New Practices in Learning Technologies Initiative (NPLT) - one-time funds of $149,500
- University Matching Funds of $150,000 ($50,000 each from Athabasca University, the University of Calgary, and the University of Lethbridge)
These funds have been devoted to the development and evaluation of the technological platforms and specific learning technologies that are used within the program.
- Alberta Ministry of Learning - Access Funding - Ongoing funding was provided for 125 Full Learning Equivalents (FLEs) (75 FLEs awarded in 2001 and an additional 50 FLEs in 2006).
- Alberta Ministry of Learning - One-Time Funding - $350,000 was provided in 2001 to support course development, faculty recruitment, and online delivery. An additional $175,000 was awarded in 2006 for further technological enhancements.
The Access funds have enabled us to support additional faculty members, keep tuition costs to a reasonable rate for students, and provide high-quality services to students.
